St. Patrick’s Day is almost here and if you are hosting a party in your home, it is wise to be prepared for any spills that may happen! Beer is a common part of these celebrations but unfortunately is not the most carpet friendly substance. Keep some supplies on hand for quick clean-ups to prevent a worse stain from forming.
There a few methods for cleaning up beer stains. Always spot test a small part of your carpet to make sure the treatment you plan to use is safe for your carpeting. You can start with one of these methods and then try an additional one if the first one does not work for you.
1.Soak up as much of the beer stain as you can before the beer is absorbed into the carpet.
2. Combine 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of warm water.
3. Soak a sponge in this solution and then blot the affected area of the carpet, working from the outside of the stain in.
4. Follow up with a sponge with cold water to help remove any remaining vinegar smell.
This method is a great one to quickly treat the stain but allows you to get back to your party and guests quickly!
1.Soak beer up with a clean towel before it has a chance to absorb into the carpet.
2. Take baking soda and sprinkle it directly on the beer stain, making sure to cover the entire stain.
3.Leave the baking soda to sit on the beer stain for 24 hours, helping to soak up all the remaining smell that beer may leave behind.
4.Vacuum up the baking soda after 24 hours
If your carpet still has an odor after trying these methods, repeat the baking soda treatment since baking soda will absorb the smell.
If your spill happened on hardwood floors or laminate, clean up the spill as quickly as possible. If you wipe up the spill immediately after it has happened there should be no lingering issues. If there is a smell or a residue, use a damp sponge to wipe the area and then thoroughly dry with a clean towel.
Try to prevent beer spills from happening at a party by keeping towels underneath your cooler or drink bucket if its on the floor. Have a clearly marked recycling bin for people to place their empty bottles or cans.
St. Patrick’s Day is upon us, which means so much more than guzzling down lots of green beer! It means spring is here too-we’re going to be ‘springing forward’ this weekend too, with the time change, and all of this together also indicates it’s time to start putting away the heavy winter décor, and usher in a lighter, brighter interior design.
Whatever your inspiration may be, it’s good to find one thing that makes you feel good; something that stirs emotion or draws you. This becomes the anchor for the rest of your home design. For this week’s purpose, due to the upcoming holiday, we’re going to use St. Patrick’s Day to inspire you towards a fresh new design!
Velvety, heavy drapes look great, and make your home feel cozy in the winter months, but those heavy, dark drapes hold the warmth in and are too much for a warm spring. Replace the drapes with a lighter, sheer fabric, or bring in some color-sage is a relaxing color that works well with multiple design colors.
Many of us use textiles that switch out every season-this gives our homes a feel that matches what’s going on at the moment without a major design overhaul. If you’ve covered your sofas with wool or fur throws, maybe velvet or dark pillows, it’s time to switch them up! Replace them with pillows in shades of turquoise, or a muted lime. These colors are very in right now, and continue to use St. Patrick’s Day as inspiration!
When a person walks in to your house, the first thing they see is what you have in your entryway. This is the first impression and a great place to start with making a great statement! Add plants, flowers, update colors, switch out paintings, whatever it may be, use this area to freshen the accessories and set the tone for the rest of the house.
Naturally, as the warm weather arrives, so do our plans to remodel! Start planning your renovation project by taking some time to decide what kind of flooring you want in your home. Invest in new colors, update the look of your room, and make an appointment with one of our designers. We can take whatever your inspiration is, whether it’s a holiday like St. Patrick’s Day, your favorite cup, or your favorite designer, and make it something that is truly yours!
