You’ve made the decision to change your flooring just in time for the holidays! We’re so grateful for clients such as yourself, and thankful you thought we were the best flooring company to put in your carpeting. We want your carpet to stay beautiful for as long as possible, and we know you do too! Here are some of our tips on how to keep your carpet clean and safe while you and your guests enjoy a wonderful meal this Thanksgiving!

Act Quickly

Your guests are so happy to be celebrating with you, and we know you are as well, but in all of that excitement, its possible for something to spill. Don’t worry, if you act fast, you should be able to cobb3clean it up and have your carpet like new again. Get out cleaning supplies appropriate to the situation and blot the stain carefully. DO NOT RUB THE STAIN. Rubbing the stain will only dig it in deeper into the fibers of the carpet making it more difficult to clean.

Use Targeted Rooms

Sometimes people like to herd the guests in to a designated area for mingling and eating to keep the party small and focused. If you are able to keep guests in a room that doesn’t have carpeting, or isn’t where you have new carpeting, this may work in your favor. Sometimes though, some people want to be away from the crowd, and that’s fine, so long as it’s clear that no food or drinks are allowed in other rooms. Your guests will respect your wishes if you say you don’t want food or drinks going out of a certain area. Although young guests may not understand, it’s important to stand your ground.

Be Comfortable

Carpet is a magnet for dirt, especially from shoes. Ask your guests to respectfully take their shoes off as they enter the door. You may want to keep a few pairs of new slippers in your closet for those who don’t mind taking the shoes off, but need to have something on their feet. If any of them wish to step out, ask them to keep the slippers in the house. It may be a bit of a nuisance, but it cobb2will keep your carpet clean and safe from dirt!

Be Strategic

A lot of what ends up on your carpet has to do with you (yes, you). If you don’t want your brand-new carpet stained, don’t put an open bottle of red wine on a table that’s in that carpeted room. While you’re at it, don’t put the salsa dish there either! Policing your friends and family will inevitably make them grumpy. Instead, use lighter colored appetizers or drinks, or, simply serve things like nuts or crackers or other non-staining foods in the carpeted rooms.

Enjoy your holiday tomorrow, and be thankful for the people and things that are in your life. We here at Kruper Flooring are very thankful for you, and with that wish you the happiest of Thanksgivings!
