More and more we hear of people choosing to stay in rather than go out, and why wouldn’t they? We live in one of the most expensive areas in the country, so going out for drinks can easily cost upwards of $100 or more on just one night of boozing. Wouldn’t it be nice to set up a bar in your home where your friends can gather and not have to worry about babysitters, drunk driving, tipping the bartender, or creepy bar-flys?
First, you have to decide where you would like to set the bar up; do you want to create a whole new space, or will it fit into a new design, or, are you looking to carve out an area in an already created spot. Once you know where you want the bar to go, it will make designing the area that much easier.
If you plan to incorporate the bar into an existing area, consider using a stylish gold cart with vintage bottles and other vintage décor. You can even use a stylish chest with wine racks to display your various types of alcohol. A repurposed bookcase can stand as an area for y our wines, various liquors, and even décor, depending on how you style it! You can even use the bar in your kitchen that is generally used for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and create a space with a few touches like a shaker, beautiful glasses, and a decorative bottle opener.
If you choose to incorporate a bar area in a space that is being renovated, or perhaps a basement that’s being finished, you have more options to create the bar area you want your guests to enjoy. Don’t forget the bar supplies and what your vision is; you may want a manly space, or a vintage modern area, or perhaps you want it to be low-key and basic. Whatever your inspiration, make sure to finish off the look with the right kind of floors. Every bar in the country has wood floors or rustic tiles, and yours should too. Choose flooring that evokes the feeling you’re going for. Choose from a dark, smoky look to a light colored beach-y vibe. Whatever you choose, take a sample of the counter to your designer to help you choose the best flooring to give you the look you want!
You bar area can be as fancy or simple as you want it to be.
